Mission of GCYD

The mission of the Governor’s Coalition for Youth with disabilities is to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of Connecticut high school students with disabilities and to promote educational opportunities to help them achieve their career goals. GCYD accomplishes this mission primarily through its Bright Lights Scholarship program.

Since its inception in 1994, GCYD has awarded over 200 scholarships totaling more than $600,000.
